This free application is made up of low interest loans, grants, federal work-study, financial aids, and grants all used to make paying for college easier.

Important Dates

  • FAFSA Opens

    10.01.2026

    The FAFSA opens October 1st every year (with the exception of the 2023-2024 year) at midnight

  • Maryland Aid Deadline

    03.01.2027

    For state aid it is best to apply to the FAFSA at your earliest convenience. In Maryland the deadline is March 1st but it differs by state

  • FAFSA Deadline

    06.30.2027

    The FAFSA for the 2027-2028 school year closes at midnight on June 30th, but it is best to get it submitted prior.

Application Process (For Student)

  • Step 1

    Opening the FAFSA and click “Start New Form”

  • Step 2

    Inputting personal demographic information

  • Step 3

    Inputting tax and asset information. If you have nothing to put in the section do not leave it blank. Place a zero if you have nothing to report.

  • Step 4

    Input the school you’re applying to. You are allowed to input up to 20 schools

  • Step 5

    Students who are dependents on their parents tax forms must invite their parent as a collaborator to complete the form

Application Process (For Parent)

  • Step 1

    The parent should receive a code in their email that they will use to log into the FAFSA Form

  • Step 2

    Parent inputs their demographic status

  • Step 3

    Input parents tax information before signing the form.
